November 3, 2008 (week 10)

AP Physics 12 - Reminder of the chapter 4 second quiz this week. We are currently working on chapter 5 Centripetal Force and chapter 15 Thermodynamics.

Physics 12 - We will have a chapter 4 second quiz later this week. We are currently working on chapter 5 Centripetal Force. Students must complete the textbook problems at end of chapter 5 in addition to the testbank worksheets provided in class.

Physics 11 - We have begun chapter 5 Dynamics, the study of forces. We will do activities related to tension, elastic force, gravitational force and frictional force. Reminder to work on the practice problems in chapter 5.

Science 8 - We are beginning chapter 8.2 on Pressure. Please bring a calculator to class as we will be doing some calculations involving pressure. Students who have the workbook are reminded to work at their own pace to complete all of workbook chapter 8.

October 27, 2008 (week 9)

AP Physics 12 - Reminder of the chapter 4 quiz this week. We have started chapter 5 Centripetal Force and we will do a lab involving tension and centripetal force. We will also continue to plug away at chapter 15 Thermodynamics.

Physics 12 - Same as AP Physics 12 (not including thermodynamics since it is not a part of the regular physics 12 curriculum)

Physics 11 - We are starting chapter 5 Dynamics (the study of forces). In particular we will learn about Isaac Newton's Three Laws of Motion. This chapter we will do many activities related to measuring forces (elastic, gravitational, frictional).

Science 8 - We are currently working in chapter 8 Fluids. This is a very practical "hands-on" chapter meaning we will do a variety of interesting activities related to measuring forces (gravitational, elastic). We will also learn the mathematical relationship between weight and mass. Students who have purchased the workbook should be working at their own pace to complete workbook chapter 8.

October 20, 2008 (week 8)

AP Physics 12 - We will complete chapter 4 Dynamics this week. Students must complete a minimum of 25 problems in preparation for the chapter 4 test, date TBA. We will also get started on chapter 5 Centripetal Force. The AP class will also return to Thermodynamics chapter 15 and learn to interpret P-V graphs.

Physics 12 - Same as AP Physics 12.

Physics 11 - Students must complete a minimum of 25 problems from chapter 4 in preparation for the chapter 4 test on October 22.

Science 8 - We are starting chapter 8 Fluids. We begin by learning about various types of forces such as gravitational force and elastic force. Students who have purchased the workbook should begin working at their own pace in chapter 8 of the workbook.

October 14, 2008 (week 7)

AP Physics 12 - We have just about completed chapter 4 Dynamics. This week we will do a lab involving an Atwood Pulley. Students must complete a minimum of 25 problems in preparation for the chapter 4 test, date TBA. We will also return to chapter 15 Thermodynamics and solve some problems related to the 1st Law of Thermodynamics.

Physics 12 - We are nearly finished studying chapter 4 Dynamics. This week we will do a lab involving an Atwood Pulley. Students must complete a minimum of 25 problems in preparation for the chapter 4 test, date TBA.

Physics 11 - This week we will perform an experiment to determine the acceleration due to gravity (g) on earth. We will also have a few work periods to write some practice tests related to accelerated motion. Reminder that students must complete all of the practice problems in chapter 4 in preparation for the chapter 4 test on October 22.

Science 8 - Students must complete all of workbook chapter 7 in preparation for the chapter 7 test on October 15. Those students who have not purchased a workbook must complete the "Check Your Understanding" questions at the end of section 7.1 and 7.2, plus the Chapter Review questions at the end of chapter 7. Remember that homework is worth 40% of the overall mark and tests are worth 60%.

October 6, 2008 (week 6)

AP Physics 12 - We have started to study Dynamics (chapter 4). Students must complete a minimum of 25 problems in preparation for the chapter 4 test, date TBA.

Physics 12 - We have started to study Dynamics (chapter 4). Students must complete a minimum of 25 problems in preparation for the chapter 4 test, date TBA.

Physics 11 - We are half-way finished with Acceleration (chapter 4). Students must complete a minimum of 25 Practice Problems and/or Review Problems at the end of the chapter in preparation for the test, date TBA. This week we will learn about gravitational acceleration and do some experiments to measure the earth's gravitational acceleration.

Science 8 - We are in the midst of chapter 7.2 Density. Students should be completing workbook section 7.1 and 7.2 at their own pace. For those who have not purchased a workbook they are expected to do the "Check Your Understanding" questions at the end of chapter 7.1 and 7.2, as well as the Review Questions at the end of the chapter. All answers must be written in complete sentence answers.
